- WorkTop 1.11 (8 Dec 1997) Release Note
- ========================= ============
-
- WorkTop requires RISC OS 3.1 or above. It is StrongARM compatible.
-
-
-
- Changes in this release
- -----------------------
-
- This release corrects a couple of bugs which appeared in 1.10, and
- also adds a few new features.
-
- The template file has been changed so that it picks up the option
- icons and arrow icons correctly. Also, the position of the
- dotted lines (if any) are now correctly displayed in the Manager
- window.
-
- Holding down either Alt key when running a worktop (whether from the
- Worktop Menu or the Editor) now leaves the previous desktop /fully/
- intact, not just its windows. This effectively allows you to
- overlay one desktop on another. (Thanks to Steve Hunt for this
- good suggestion.)
-
- A new 'Sort by name' option has been added to the Manager menu.
-
- WorkTop now responds to 'Message_SaveDesktop' so that if a Desktop
- save is performed from the Task Manager, a 'Run...WorkTop'
- line appears in the saved !Boot file. (Thanks to John Skingley of
- Cirble Software for pointing this out.)
-
- The manual has been updated to reflect these changes, and a drawfile
- of windows and menus has been placed in the 'Docs' directory to
- view in conjunction with the manual.
-
-
- Getting started
- ---------------
-
- Copy the !WorkTop application from the supplied floppy disc to any
- directory on your hard disc, and run the program by double-clicking
- on the !WorkTop icon. When you run WorkTop the icon bar icon
- appears. See the manual for further information.
-
-
- Documentation
- -------------
-
- Full information is given in the manual, which is in the 'Docs'
- directory. The manual is a text file constructed to be easily
- printed if required. There is also a Spark archive containing
- Drawfiles to illustrate WorkTop's windows, menus, dialogue boxes and
- button bar. Print these out for a useful quick-reference guiade.
-
-
- The 'Register' file
- -------------------
-
- The 'User' directory contains a special 'Register' file, encrypted
- with your name. The User directory is your personal property, and
- when in future you obtain upgrades, you simply copy your User
- directory to the new version to retain both your registration and
- personal settings.
-
- You are encouraged to pass on unregistered copies of the program,
- and to do this you simply copy the WorkTop to a floppy disc and then
- delete the entire User directory (from the floppy disc). This
- ensures that your personal property is safeguarded, and that the
- version you pass on behaves as an unregistered demo version (a new
- User directory will be created next time the program is run).
